RENEWABLE DESIGN CONSULTANTS

RDC has been established to advise on small-scale renewable energy projects in the UK, primarily hydropower.

RDC offer advice and assistance for the development of micro-generation projects for householders, public authorities and businesses, including micro-hydro, small-scale wind power, woodfuel heating and solar energy technologies.

RDC is registered as a consultant under the CSEP (Community Sustainable Energy Programme), funded by the Big Lottery, which can support micro-generation technology for community projects such as in schools and for charities/trusts.

RDC has considerable experience of development of renewable energy projects including installation of hydro schemes and wind turbines, solar photovoltaics and woodfuel heating systems and can assist customers with the design and installation of micro-hydro and solar energy systems at the domestic level through to woodfuel heating schemes for commercial-scale or school buildings and megawatt level development of hydropower.

Renewable Design Consultants was established by Simon Taylor in 2008 to provide consultancy advice to community and school renewable projects that can seek support through the Community Sustainable Energy Programme (CSEP).  RDC now offers the same service to householders, businesses and public authorities.

Simon is a mechanical engineer who has worked over 15 years in the renewable energy sector.  Following a 3 years as a VSO in the Philippines establishing micro-hydro and solar projects in rural villages, he worked on energy campaigns and further hydro energy development work for a Philippine NGO for 4 years.

Since returning to the UK in 2000 he has worked on numerous projects, from woodfuel heating to small-scale hydro in engineering, project management and consultancy roles.  In order to provide a full complement of renewable energy advice to clients, RDC links up with specialists for a full range of micro-generation technologies.

Hastings Community Project
RDC has started work for a community group in Hastings who are improving the energy performance of a large Victorian building in order to sustain the spaces that are used by local artists and businesses. As well as insulating the main brick wall and installing double-glazing, the technologies being considered are a wood pellet central heating system, Solar PV and a small solar thermal array. ...more
